How to measure for a dog coat Size determined by back length and chest girth. Please be sure to use a seamstress tape and not a ruler. You can pick one up at the dollar store if you don't have one. A metal carpenters measure will not be accurate. Please ensure your dog is standing up straight when you take the measurements of the back length in particular will not be accurate. When ordering a coat please include your measurements in the "message" section of your order, along with your dog's weight and breed. We double check all measurements before billing and if they don't look right we will contact you before proceeding with your order. It is very important to get the measurements accurate the first time to avoid unnecessary shipping charges. We carry warm winter coats in a variety of styles. Almost all dogs will fit into at least one of these coat styles. Please refer to the sizing guide for the particular style of dog coat you are ordering. Each style of dog coat has a different fit and design. You will find the sizing guide link for each dog coat in the description beside the picture. It would also be very helpful if you could take your dog's measurements twice. Quite often the second set of measurements is different. As it's not something we tend do every day perhaps it requires a practice run...
